Send large files securely

Attachment too large to email? Send it as a link. The file is encrypted in your browser before upload, and the key travels only in the link – the server never sees the contents.

Record video

The video stays only in this browser’s memory. It isn’t saved to your phone’s gallery, and it is encrypted before sending.

How to send a large file

  1. Drop files or record a video

Choose one or more files, even gigabytes in size. Several files are zipped into one package automatically. You can also record a video clip or a voice message right in the browser.

  2. Encrypted in your browser

The file is encrypted on your device before upload. We cannot see its contents or its name.

  3. Share the link

Paste the link into an email, message or chat. It expires after the time or number of downloads you choose, and the file is deleted.

Frequently asked questions about sending large files

How do I send large files that are too big for email?

Drop the file into Liitetiedosto and paste the link you get into an email, text message or chat. The recipient downloads the file from the link, so email attachment limits – such as 25 MB in Gmail or 20 MB in Outlook – no longer get in the way.

How large can a file be?

A single share can be several gigabytes; the exact maximum is shown in the upload area. Large files are uploaded in pieces: if the connection drops, the upload continues where it left off.

Can I send several files at once?

Yes. Choose or drop several files and your browser zips them into one package automatically, so they all travel with a single link.

Is the file transfer secure?

The file is encrypted in your browser before it is uploaded (end-to-end encryption), and the decryption key travels only in the link. We cannot see the file’s contents or its name. For sensitive files, add a password and give it to the recipient through another channel.

How long does the link work?

You choose how long the link stays valid and how many times the file can be downloaded. After that, the file is deleted from the server. You can also delete the share yourself earlier.

Can I send a large video or record one in the browser?

Yes. A video travels as a link like any other file, and the recipient can usually watch it straight in the browser without downloading. You can also record a video clip right on the page with your device’s camera and send it at once.

Is it free? Do I need to sign up?

It is free, and no account or sign-up is needed. The site has no tracking or analytics.

Why is the service free?

We want to keep secure data transfer available to everyone, regardless of their ability to pay. A paid business version of the service is available, and its revenue covers the running costs of the free version.

Can I send a voice message?

Yes. Press Record audio and the page uses only the microphone – no camera needed. The recording is encrypted and sent as a link like any other file, and the recipient can listen to it straight in the browser. Handy for voice messages, dictation or interviews.

What does end-to-end encryption mean?

Your file is locked on your own device before it goes anywhere. Only the person you give the link to can open it.

Like a locked box

Imagine sending a parcel in a locked box and giving the key only to the recipient. We carry and store the box, but we cannot look inside – we don’t have the key.

Where is the key?

The key is at the end of the link, after the # sign. Browsers never send that part to the server, so the key cannot reach us even by accident.

What we can see – and what we can’t

What this means for you

Encryption protects the file in transit and on our server. It does not protect against malware on the sender’s or recipient’s own device.
